Our Lison among the best wines of 2022
Best wines of 2022: David Kermode picks his top 10 wines of the year
David Kermode is a well-known TV journalist (among the other channels, he works with the BBC), writer, broadcaster, wine conoisseur with a WSET Diploma and international wine judge for International Wine and Spirit Competition. We had the pleasure of meeting and host him in our Estate on occasion of the first international conference of the organisation The Old Vine Conference during which Mr. Kermode had the chance to taste, among the other wines, our Lison Classico DOCG produced exclusively with grapes of old Tocai Friulano vines planted in 1943. Vintage 2019 was a unique one and in fact it has been particularly awarded, as it gave a wine more intense and richer on the nose and on the palate thanks to the development of some noble rot on the grapes of Tocai Friulano before the harvest.
With great pleasure and honour, Mr. Kermode mentioned our Lison Classico DOCG 2019 among the best wine tastings of 2022 in an article he wrote for The Buyer. Moreover, we are honoured for being included in this list by some of the most renowned and premium wines in the world, of the calibre of Krug, Ruinart and Giulio Ferrari.
Mr. Kermode describes our Lison as a wine “Perfumed, with camomile and orange blossom, a golden bauble colour somehow reflected its luminous texture, with dried herbs and a beautiful citrus acidity, all exquisitely balanced to deliver an elegant textural feast. “
“If there is one thing I learned this year, it is that historic vineyards can really make a difference in the wine glass,” writes Mr. Kermode.
And we cannot agree more: enhancing the old vines and the wines produced with their grapes is one of our main goals and we hope that more and more people and wineries are going to join this important project.
